3DPF Final Project Video - Run Cycle

Camera View

This exercise is fun but it takes alot of time to get used to the motions of what human usually do when they jump or run. Overall it is a fun process after being able to feel a sense of achievement after we are done with something. I used the logic of walk cycle e.g landing by the heel etc. And when running, Mani will bend towards the front and when he is jumping he will lean backwards a little bit and then lean towards the front like what a normal person would do.

For this exercise it is very fun to do, the important points are the leg, the way they land and what does it do in mid-air. For example while walking you will tilt your leg down, including your toe (toe curl) and when you are going to land u will automatically lift your hill and ur toe will curl upwards and land down returning it back to normal.

Exercises CG etc

Exercise 1

Your responses to these exercises should be posted on your weblog.

i)     If engineered or programmed badly, BigDog would fall over. Watch the full video again, and describe how BigDog’s legs move while walking– ie. what is the sequence of leg movements for one complete step? Use the terms BL, BR, FL, and FR for the back-left, back-right, front-left and front-right legs.

BigDog's BR stretches out to the left, crossing over BR both legs will naturally bend upon first push to make use of their centre of gravity, and BL stretching all the way to the end to stabilize the body weight of the BigDog. Whenever BL and BR crosses over each other, FL and FR must not cross over each other - Must stretch out or open or their CG will be too much resulting in instability of the body itself. Their motion must repeat, as in, FL FR crosses over each other, BL BR must stretch out, FL FR stretches out, BL BR crosses over each other

ii)       Explain how this sequence of movements manages to balance BigDog’s body weight.

iii)     Look at BigDog_kick_slow_motion.mov. Draw a storyboard of BigDog stabilising itself after being kicked.

You should draw the key poses. You don’t need to draw well – but you must show the leg positions and the body rotations around the X, Y and Z axes for each key pose.

Walk Cycle Side view

For this walk cycle, every step before I land I will tilt the heel upwards so that it is just like normal walking, where humans will land on their heel first.

Big dog kick start

Honestly I am not that satisfied with my current progress for this big dog as my big dog slides at one point of time. But at least I learn the ways of the gravity and the way legs move. As in crossing while the other opens etc.

Spiderman, Spiderman.

Here is the spiderman poses which I did! Tadah!

Relaxed pose 1: For this I tilted the back a little bit so it looks a littlebit slouchy and he wouldn't stand so straight so is more of a relaxed position.

Here is the one where I flipped him over and I placed a plane behind him.

For the next one, I got inspired by this picture while searching around google images for poses.

This is the one without background

This is the one with background.

Last but not least is this pose

Reflection: This exercise is fun to do as it is very practical and helps us with our knowledge in posing for future 3D modelling or character animation.

3DPF - Final video

Here it is!

3DPF - After effects introduction - Energy Wipe

I used CC particle world for my blurry effect

Faster blur and vector blur to cause the blurry effect to appear.

I created another composition of my blurry effect to have some ambient effect on my introduction.

I used ramp and overlay to create the colour for the energy wave itself.

I used displacement map when I put my image in so that the image will shake and have it wave around. The original image is not this colour, it is due to the ramp that is why the colour will appear like this.

Tadah!!

3DPF Project 1 - Storyboard and Storyline

 Storyline
The hinges of the door creaked, due to years of using, making it worn down, as the mysterious black-clad figure somersaulted in. He stood up, looking majestic as the spot light shine on to face. Taking a step forward, he plugged in a thumb-drive as he settled down on a seat with a computer in front. He did a quick swift movement on the keyboard and the viruses start intruding the server from the thumb-drive. Shown on the desktop, the Trojan Horse started intruding the server by trampling over the folders and icons! It rushed towards the Firewall and got knocked down by the Firewall. However, it started releasing all the other viruses such as Key Logger, Worms and Spam viruses that managed to destroy the Firewall! The viruses marched towards the Window Defender and another battle began. The mysterious guy plugged out his thumb-drive and walked away with a smirk on his face. Obviously, the viruses managed to intrude the server and won the battle. Hours later, the Big Boss is back and to his horror, he realized his server was being attacked. But keeping his cool, he quickly uses his virus scan and restore the server back to normal without much effort. Once again, his server is back to normal.

3DPF Project 1 Animation - Fire wall breach

Wall is intact

 Wall gets banged

The way I made the wall explode towards the screen is i grabbed seperate rocks and parent them together, keyframe it and then keyframe to further down the frame. And push them towards and past the camera. I did that cycle again and again for different groups so that it looks as though the wall really exploded frontwards as the horse banged the wall.
Virus comes in

Video is here

3DPF Project 1 Animation - Horse charging (Before attack)

There is a sneaky little camera behind the horse

The camera is parented to the horse itself so it goes along with the horse movement. I am showing the horse from the top view so it looks as though it is rushing towards the wall.

In the video here.

3DPF Project 1 Animation - 3D city (Before attack)

My 3d city animation.

Reflection: This scene I made it as though it is before the attack. Like folders roaming around and just some of my Virus Scan patrolling around the city. Like how a computer works and moves their files around.

Here is my video.

3DPF Project 1 Models/Progression - Folder

This will be a short post.

This is my folder.

I created a cube, deleted the faces and then I duplicated and changed the rotation to its opposite and just connect it together.

3DPF Project 1 Models/Progression - Car

Here is my car.

Here is the car without textures

For my car I created half of it first, because the other half is symmetrical
I used the faces tool to delete the parts which I want to replace with a plane and in the end needing to use symmetrical tool to duplicate the whole car.
The back of the car the hole I used vertex to pull it up, and after that I used the rectangle tool with it and used "difference" to create the hole.
Those faces which I deleted  I used plane to cover up the holes instead of using extrude tool as this is easier. But requires absolute placement
The small details I used many different tools such as cylinders, cube tool and just created one side of it before I duplicate each side.

While for this "window" I just used rectangle tool and played around with the vertex to push it in. Initially I used smoothen, but the sides don't look good if I smoothen them so I just used normal vertices to push downwards and the sides in.

3DPF Project 1 Models/Progression - Worm 2

This is my second worm for my project.
Honestly in my own reflection this worm is badly done. In terms of textures but i really could not find a better one. Initially I wanted to make a 'tank' for this but instead when I created the sides which looked like a wing, in the end I made it a flying creature. That explains the barrels infront of the worm.

This is the image of it without textures:
Fun fact: Initially I got the idea of making a creature like this because I got a reference from
But it looks super different and it is too tedious due to the lack of time.
For this I just used 2 seperate polygon pipe and scale it by 50%

For this part, I just used a cylinder polygon and I created divisions from the side bar, and I used vertex tool to move it left or right to create an uneven body.

For my wings of my model, I used a poly cube, I scaled the thickness down and made it wider. Then I used the vertex tool to move it and spread it like wings. After I did that, I pressed "3" to make it smooth to make it look more winglike and effective.

This are the 'pipes'

I made it with the cylinder polygon tool and use vertex to shift it left and right. After doing this I also pressed "3" to smoothen it and then so that i looks more biological, virus-like.

Textures:

I used 2 different colors for different body parts. And the last leaf texture for the pipes.

I used blinn for the body so it would be a little bit reflective in terms of light, and I used lambert for the wings and pipes.

Animation I most did it on the wings as shown in the movie below.
