This is the 'naked' version of the model:
Now I will start explaining my model.
At first I wanted to make a "halo" around my virus scan. But realised it would look quite ridiculous so I changed it into a propellor instead. But the halo was first used with PolygonTorus.
My propellor for my VirusScan is make with a cylinder, 3 equal length rectangle and I grouped them together with parent tool.
This is my weapon for my virus scan
For the barrels, I made it with small cylinders. In order for me to create the small hole at the center with the cylinder, I used Edit Mesh -> Interactive Split Tool and then I extrude it into the cylinder itself. Same goes for my box which contains the barrels itself.
This are my hand barrels for my model, I used sphere and a cylinder together and I parented the cylinder to the sphere to allow rotation for the hand. Same goes for the barrel , I used the interactive Split tool to be able to select the faces at the centre of the cylinder in order to extrude it inwards.
For my eyes I just basically used sphere to create them.
Textures
Robot eye
Digital camo for the weapons
Rusty metal for the body
Light metal for my propellors
I chose all these textures so that it would look more rugged and military-like.
Same thing I used planar mapping to place the textures for the eye.
Animation:
For animation, my propeller is all parented to the center for easy rotation. For example in this video:
I basically keyframed rotation Y from frame 1 to frame 34. From Rotation Y = 0 to Rotation Y = 320.
I also created 'emotions' for my character from normal to startup combat mode. As shown in the video below. By using rotation for my hands and eyes.
For my textures, my body and propeller I used blinn as it is metal, while for my weapons, I used lambert for my camo as camoflague should not give reflections.
